While commanding less experienced cadets, it helps to add cadences that remind them of what they are supposed to be doing. The following phrases can be used immediately after the commands they are given for.

TO THE REAR MARCH - step, pivot and step
MARK TIME MARCH - step, together, up
FOWARD MARCH (for mark time) - and, step
HALF STEP MARCH - thirty, fifteen
FOWARD MARCH (from half step) - fifteen, thirty
column movements-pivot and step, pivot and step (etc...)

A cadence that may be used for COUNT CADENCE COUNT is:
Troops: One! (On left foot)
Commander: Can't Hear You!
Troops: Two! (On left foot)
Commander: A Little Bit Louder!
Troops: Three! (On left foot)
Commander: That's Better!
Troops: Four! (On left foot)
Commander: All together Now!
Troops: One! (Pause) Two! (Pause) Three! (Pause) Four! (Pause)
One! Two! Three! Four! United States Marine Corps
Commander: Oorah!
Troops: Oorah!
